Senior Network Engineer

The Sr. Principal Network Engineer is responsible for the design and development and implementation of voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks as part of a Project Execution Team. The candidate will work with project managers and customers to determine technical requirements.

1. Responsible for the network design and determining the level of effort associated with the development of voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices.
2. Plans network layouts and configures systems to user environments.
3. Analyzes network topological and traffic and capacity requirements.
4. Supports the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.
5. May provide technical support and troubleshooting to users.
6. May perform network administration duties.
7. May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced network personnel.
8. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
9. Participates in special projects as required.

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
10 - 15 years of directly related experience in network analysis and administration.
Certifications: DOD 8570.1-M IAT-II, ITIL V3 Foundation
Unique/Additional Requirements Desired Skills:
Netcool and Tivoli Monitoring skills
Remedy experience
CCNA
Clearance Secret with Top Secret preferred  

1. Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.
2. Must be able to achieve ITIL Foundation and Security+ (or equivalent) Certification within six
months of hire.
3. The work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety
precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or

Avaya Engineer

Avaya System Administrator Team member of 24x7 Operation and Maintenance Staff to perform daily activities in support of the DoD Revision Avaya AS5300 LSC;  with all of its Core and Peripheral systems. 

 

Position / Duty hours

AS5300 Engineer Position 1    0600-1430       M-F

AS5300 Engineer Position 2    0800-1630       M-F

AS5300 Engineer Position 3    1000-1800       M-F

AS5300 Engineer Position 4    1200-20:30      M-F

AS5300 Engineer Position 5    2000-0630       M-F

 

All will need a minimum of SECRET Clearance, prefer TS.

 

Position Description:

 

Voice Team member of 24x7 Operation and Maintenance Staff to perform daily

activities in support of the DoD Revision Avaya AS5300 LSC;  with all of its

Core and Peripheral systems.  Work encompasses support of SIP based Session

Managers, Provisioning Manager, Personal Agent Manager, Media Application

Servers, PRI Gateways and Associated Element Managers.  Support for VOIP

phones, TDM and SIP Trunking, Voice Mail, E911, and UC features.  Candidate

should be familiar with AS5300 system Architecture and have working

knowledge of AS5300 Element Managers, Linux command line, Ethernet, TCP/IP,

and common industry standard fiber and copper physical media support for

Telephony.

 

Daily activities will involve alarm monitoring, scheduling/running of system

backups, system upgrades, preventative maintenance, hardware replacement,

system troubleshooting, Telephony dial-plan, routing changes.  Administrator

will interface with customers, Local Exchange Carrier, local in-house

cabling support, and Avaya.  Perform call-flow evaluation and other duties

required to operate, maintain, update, and perform break-fix actions,

trouble ticketing, reporting, system interface with other telephony

switches, VTCs, & ACDs.  Experience with Oracle SIP Session Boarder

Controller is highly desirable.  Hands-on Experience as Operator of AS5300

Switch highly desired.

 

Experience: 1-3 years Avaya AS5300 Fundamentals, Maintenance & Provisioning desired.

 

Required Training:

1) CompTIA- Security+ Certified (current, must not expire in next 60 days)

2) One of the following training certifications (CE) will be required

  • Avaya - AS5300 Fundamentals

  • Avaya - AS5300 Maintenance & Provisioning

  • Cisco - CCNA Voice Certified

  • Nortel - Carrier VoIP Communication Server XA- Core

  • Nortel - Communication Server 2100

  • Nortel - Nortel Unified Communications Solutions

  • Avaya - Avaya Aura Application Server 5300 R2 or Above

  • Avaya - Avaya Aura Communication Manager

 

 

Cable Engineer


The Cable Engineer participates as part of an Implementation Team and will work with customers and project managers to implement customer requirements. The candidate responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

1. Assist technical leads for passive implementation projects.
2. Participates in and updates Site Surveys as required to implement designed solutions
3. Learns from more Sr. Passive Engineers and contributes to the development of peers
4. Provides technical advice and guidance on installation, adaptation, configuration and/or enhancement of company technical products, programs and systems.
5. Provides expertise for resolving technical problems.
6. Modifies products, programs and systems to customer requirements.
7. Serves as company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects.
8. Provides end-user training.
9. Performs various tests and documents results.
10. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
11. Participates in special projects as required.

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent years of experience
Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) Installer or Technician desired

5 - 8 years of related engineering experience.

 

 

Network Engineer

Systems Engineer - Level II

Participates in all phases of computer operating/hardware systems engineering, including
design, analysis, and modeling at a highly technical level; analyzes complex computer software/hardware
requirements to provide integration and implementation support; performs operating/hardware systems engineering,
including full life cycle design and development; analyzes and documents users’ functional and data requirements;

Evaluates, designs, and maintains existing or proposed telecommunications systems;
analyzes the telecommunications needs of the user and recommends solutions; designs, develops, and tests
telecommunications software solutions; prepares detailed specifications and flow charts for implementation of new
internal programs or modification to vendor software; coordinates installation of equipment; monitors the operations of
telecommunications systems and services of vendors; provides end user training of telecommunications features and
functionality; may provide guidance and technical training to lower level analysts.
